ARCaide – ein neues Montageplanungstool/ARCaide: a new tool for assembly planning - Automated generation of AR-based assembly instructions using CAD data
In: Werkstattstechnik: wt, Band 111, Heft 3, S. 98-101
ISSN: 1436-4980
Assembly instructions are indispensable for successfully selling a product. However, their creation is very time-consuming and often they are hard to understand. ARCaide is a new method using existing CAD data to automatically create assembly instructions. Another advantage is that these instructions are intuitive, reducing assembly errors during the process as users are guided by means of Augmented Reality (AR).

Interne Ursachen sind u.a. ; Today, energy efficiency is not enough considered in politics, economy and science. Although the German government schedules decoupling of economic growth from energy consumption and takes isolated measures, the economic growth of the German economy more or less eats up the realized efficiency gains. This is, amongst others, due to the so-called rebound effect. The challenge is now, to integrate energy efficiency more tightly into the German energy concept of the "Energiewende". At the same time, required technologies and respective investments have to remain affordable for enterprises, households and local authorities. Industry accounts for about 40 percent of the energy consumption in Germany, but there are almost no appropriate political framework conditions, such as regulations and funding instruments. Manufacturing enterprises themselves also show clear weaknesses in exploiting their efficiency potential. Internal reasons are, amongst others, the lack of knowledge about their own energy situation and the very short payback periods that are usually demanded. In the long run, the decoupling of economic growth and energy consumption can only work through technology leaps. Economy and science thus need a reliable long-term framework, provided by politics.

Maschinelles Lernen zur Prognose von Auftragskennzahlen/Machine learning for the forecasting of key figures of customer orders
In: Werkstattstechnik: wt, Band 111, Heft 3, S. 124-129
ISSN: 1436-4980
Forecasts often form the basis for decisions on the shop floor. Today, forecasts in production are mostly derived from personal experience or digital models. With complex systems, this approach reaches the limits of reliability or is associated with a high expenditure of time. Classification methods of machine learning promise solutions for this. Automatically generated decision trees can be a possibility to generate real-time forecasts for key figures in production.
Biointelligenz. Definition und Kategorisierung - Ein Diskussionspapier
Biointelligence is currently one of the most noted innovation paths in Germany and Europe. Crucial to the development of the Biointelligence vision are recent biotech and information technology breakthroughs. It is therefore not surprising that the scientific community, political decision-makers as well as industry representatives are enthusiastic about the subject of biointelligence. In the Stuttgart-Tübingen region, for example, more than 40 scientists have joined forces in the Competence Center Biointelligence to promote the topic in an interdisciplinary fashion. Not only the federal government, but also various state governments are planning extensive support measures. At the level of the European Commission, the term Industry 5.0 is sometimes even used behind closed doors. The fact is that biointelligence opens up enormous potential for break through innovations, leap frogging and competitive advantages in almost all industrial sectors. In many cases, however, the term is misunderstood, which ultimately leads to undermining the meaning and thus undermining the potential for Germany as a business location. For science, industry and politics it is crucial to find a consensus. This article thus aims to contribute by summarizing the term background, presenting a detailed definition and developing a categorization system.

Technologieradar für die autonome Produktion/Technology radar for autonomous production – Systematic identification of technologies for the vision of an autonomous production system
In: Werkstattstechnik: wt, Band 110, Heft 3, S. 87-91
ISSN: 1436-4980
Industrie 4.0 strives towards autonomous production based on interconnectedness and integration as well as cyber-physical and autonomous systems. An existing technology-independent stage model for autonomous production is extended by the systematic identification of technologies through a generally applicable methodological approach. Technologies are identified by means of technology profiles and concept maps for thematic characteristic fields and classified by a technology radar. In addition, the paper uncovers technological development fields for autonomous production and highlights further research needs.
Biointelligenz/Biointelligence – Definition and Categorization – A Discussion Paper
In: Werkstattstechnik: wt, Band 110, Heft 1-02, S. 58-63
ISSN: 1436-4980
